69 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Finance the level of Exchequer savings on social welfare payments anticipated in 1998 if, as expected, unemployment figures continue to fall to the anticipated levels; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9537/98]

The live register projection underlying the Revised Estimates for Public Services for 1998 is an average of 232,000. As actual figures to date are in line with this forecast, the question of savings does not arise.
