Michael Ring

Question:

90 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive issue of tonnage for which he applied in relation to a vessel he had registered in each of the years 1973, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1982 and 1984 and whose boat was last examined on 3 December 1985. [9808/98]

I propose to take Question Nos. 89 and 90 together.

I must advise the Deputy that the vessel in question is not registered on the register of fishing boats established under the Merchant Shipping (Registry, Lettering and Numbering of Fishing Boats) Regulations, 1989, and the Merchant Shipping (Registry, Lettering and Numbering of Fishing Boats) Regulations, 1997. I must advise the Deputy also that there is no record in my Department of an application by the person concerned under the special small vessel licensing scheme developed to regularise the position of vessels which have not been formally licensed or registered.
