Written Answers - Aquaculture Licences.
There is no record of any application for an aquaculture licence in Lough Swilly by the company in question but an application has been lodged by a company with which, I understand, it is in partnership, i.e. Inishowen Mussels Ltd.
The licence application, for an extensive mussel farming operation in Lough Swilly, is under consideration. It is too early at this stage to say when a decision will be made as the procedures of the Foreshore Acts and Fisheries (Amendment) Act, 1997 have to be followed. However, it is hoped a decision on the application will be possible within a few months.
