Question:

156 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will provide two inspectors to replace those who have transferred in view of the fact a considerable backlog of work has built up with only one inspector responsible for REP scheme inspections. [10825/98]

I am only aware of one vacancy, at district superintendent level, in the Limerick farm development service office. I have arranged for this vacancy to be filled with effect from Friday 8 May next.

I am not aware of any significant backlog in REPS inspections in the Limerick area.
