Vol. 490 No. 5

Written Answers. - Departmental Costs.

Nora Owen

Question:

178 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Finance the costs incurred since July 1997 for public relations and media advice to him, for personal photographs and any photographic work to cover functions attended by him outside of the normal coverage provided by photographers of local and national papers. [10721/98]

All public relations and media advice in relation to photographic work since July 1997 has been provided by my Department's Press and Information Office. However, in accordance with normal practice, the Department's press and information office has engaged professional photographic services on four occasions since July 1997 at a total cost of £1,452.30. These occasions would include all press conferences and launches. The Deputy's attention is drawn to the reply to Parliamentary Question No. 73 of 13 May 1997 in which the total cost of photography to my Department in 1996 was given as £5,289.25 and in 1997 to 13 May as £2,343.96.
