Vol. 490 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dublin Institute of Technology.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

326 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to serious industrial relations difficulties and disputes regarding pay at Dublin Institute of Technology Conservatory of Music; if so, the action, if any, he is taking; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10741/98]

The Dublin Institute of Technology is a statutory body established under the Dublin Institute of Technology Act, 1992. Under that Act, the governance and day to day activities of the institute are matters for which the governing Body and the management staff of the institute are responsible. However, I made inquiries about the matter in question and I have been advised by the authorities in the Dublin Institute of Technology that an administrative problem arose with regard to the payment of some part-time teachers earlier this academic year, but that the matter has now been resolved and that all teachers are being paid normally.
