Question:

75 Mrs. Owen asked the Taoiseach the advisers, programme managers or public relation officers attached to his office; whether those persons are civil servants or private sector employees; when they were employed for this work; the costs associated with these persons; and whether their work is full or part-time. [10699/98]

The information requested by the Deputy is listed as follows. All of the positions listed are full-time and, unless otherwise noted, none of these persons is an established civil servant.

Dr. Martin Mansergh was appointed special adviser to the Taoiseach on Northern Ireland, economic and social matters on 27 June 1997. His annual salary is £64,033. Mr. Paddy Duffy was appointed special adviser to the Taoiseach on 1 July 1997. His annual salary is £51,356.70. Mr. Duffy is a national school teacher, a public servant, on loan to this Department for the duration of his contract. Mr. Jackie Gallagher was appointed special adviser to the Taoiseach on 1 July 1997. His annual salary is £44,833.

Mr. Gerry Hickey was appointed programme manager-special adviser to the Taoiseach on 27 June 1997. His annual salary is £84,515. Ms. Katherine Bulbulia was appointed programme manager to the Tánaiste on 21 July 1997. Her annual salary is £54,546.
There are no persons appointed as public relations officers.
