Vol. 490 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

135 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will have arrangements made for his Department to resolve an error whereby the Department issued incorrect aerial photographs to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact that these errors are hindering payment of the remainder of his headage and premia payments. [11039/98]

The area aid application of the person named has been fully processed and there are no outstanding queries on his application. The person concerned was paid an advance of £757.24 on 5 December 1997 and a balance of £504.83 on 19 March 1998 under the 1997 suckler cow premium scheme in respect of nine suckler cows. He was paid his full entitlement of £822.00 under the 1997 cattle headage scheme on 5 December 1997. He was paid a 60 per cent advance of the 1997 special beef premium scheme of £54.10 on 19 March 1998 and a further £27.05, being a 30 per cent balance, on 31 March 1998 in respect of one animal.

Any remaining payments due under the 1997 special beef premium scheme cannot be made until such time as national quota usage for 1997 has been determined. Quota usage is determined by reference to the overall number of animals deemed eligible for payment under the 1997 ten month special beef premium scheme and this will not be known until late May at the earliest. Likewise, payment of 1997 extensification premium to eligible producers cannot be made until the definitive position regarding 1997 special beef premium quota usage has been determined.
