Vol. 490 No. 7

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following maters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Connaughton — the need for the urban renewal status to be applied to the town of Tuam in County Galway; (2) Deputy Breeda Moynihan-Cronin — the need to explain the way in which the on-call system of work operates for workers under the remit of the Department of Health and Children; (3) Deputy Neville — the need to construct a classroom and toilets at Shountrade school, Adare, County Limerick; (4) Deputy Rabbitte — the need to protect the interests of house buyers by preventing builders from increasing house prices after a deposit has been paid, especially in view of the case in the High Court on Monday involving a case where the price of a house was increased by £36,000 after a deposit was paid; (5) Deputy Lawlor — the unavailability of the domiciliary care allowance to parents of handicapped children until such time as these children attain two years of age and the distress and difficulty encountered by parents as a consequence; and (6) Deputy Ring — the reason offshore islands on the west will have to vote earlier than everybody else in the forthcoming referendum, the need to confirm the number that are being allowed to vote on 22 May and the number that will have to vote on an earlier date.

The matters raised by Deputies Breeda Moynihan-Cronin, Connaughton, Rabbitte and Ring have been selected for discussion.
