Vol. 490 No. 7

Written Answers. - Installation Aid Scheme.

Ivan Yates

Question:

138 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if it is intended to reintroduce the agricultural installation aid scheme in June 1999 or at any foreseeable date; if so, if special facilitates will be made available for those who were in the process of applying for this such as a person (details supplied) in County Wexford who had not completed his green certificate in agriculture training through Teagasc but had fulfilled all the rest of the eligibility criteria; and if his Department will receive and retain applications from cases like this on file for consideration in the event of it being reintroduced. [11184/98]

The terms of a revised scheme of installation aid are currently being finalised within my Department. The revised scheme will then require the approval of the Department of Finance and the EU Commission before it can come into operation. The attainment of the educational qualification requirements at the date of setting up on the farm is one of the elements being considered in the context of drawing up the new scheme.
