93 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if he will make an allocation in relation to restoration works and prevention of erosion at Doohoma, Ballina, County Mayo where a considerable amount of land (details supplied) has been lost due to flooding by the sea. [11195/98]
Mayo County Council did not identify Doohoma as one of their priorities in submitting projects for consideration under the coast protection measure of the operational programme for environmental services 1994-99. In these circumstances, and having regard to the very limited funding currently available to my Department for coast protection works, I regret that it would not be possible to provide for funding for works at the location in question.
