Local Government Bill, 1998 — Financial Resolution: Motion.

I move:

That, for the purpose of any Act of the present session to make new provision with respect to the means whereby financial resources are made available to local authorities, to amend the Finance (Excise Duties) (Vehicles) Act, 1952, and the Finance (No. 2) Act, 1992, to amend the law relating to local government in certain other respects and to provide for related matters, it is expedient to provide for the making of such charges as consist of the amount of duties and fees (including duties and fees imposed by the provisions of the said enactments as amended by such an Act) that are required to be paid into a fund established by such an Act and which may be paid out of such a fund for the purposes of defraying expenses incurred by local authorities and the Minister for the Environment and Local Government in performing certain functions specified in such an Act.".
