Merchant Shipping (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill, 1997 — Financial Resolution: Motion.

I move:

THAT it is expedient in any Act of the present session to amend the Conspiracy, and Protection of Property Act, 1875, the Merchant Shipping Act, 1894, the Mercantile Marine Act, 1955, and the Merchant Shipping Act, 1992, and to provide for related matters, to make provision by appropriate amendment of the said Merchant Shipping Act, 1922—

(a) for the charging in respect of

(i) the issue of passenger ship's certificates and the grant of passenger boat licences, and

(ii) surveys of passenger ships and inspections of passenger boats, of such fees as may be prescribed by regulations made by the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources with the consent of the Minister for Finance, and

(b) for the charging, under regulations made for the purpose of ensuring the safety of passenger boats and their passengers and crews, fishing vessels and their crews and pleasure craft and their occupants, of such fees as may be prescribed by the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources with the consent of the Minister for Finance.".
