Vol. 491 No. 3

Written Answers. - Bovine Disease Controls.

Michael Ring

Question:

222 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason it has taken more than three weeks for an annual animal blood test result to come back from Cork for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo; and when these results will become available. [12137/98]

I understand that results of tests on blood samples taken on 28 April from the herd in question issued from the brucellosis laboratory on 15 May and were clear.

Due to the much increased throughput in the laboratory this year compared with previous years some delays were encountered in processing results. However additional staff have been assigned to the laboratory.
