Vol. 491 No. 3

Written Answers. - Death Certificates.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

312 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason persons (details supplied) in County Leitrim are experiencing a long delay in the receipt of a death certificate. [12279/98]

The administration of the registration system is statutorily a matter for An tArd-Chláraitheoir, Registrar-General, of Births, Deaths and Marriages and for the Superintendent Registrar, Dublin, and Registrars, who operate under his general direction. I have had inquiries made with An tArd-Chláraitheoir and I understand an application for the death certificate referred to by the Deputy was received by the Superintendent Registrar for the district of Dublin and that the relevant certificate has been issued.
