Vol. 491 No. 3

Written Answers. - Wildlife Rangers.

Enda Kenny

Question:

392 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the salary scale levels of wildlife rangers employed by her Department; when a review of pay was last carried out on their remuneration; the proposals, if any, she has in this regard; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11861/98]

The salary scale applicable to wildlife rangers is as follows: £184.01 — £212.55 — £229.45 — £246.64 — £257.70*.

*Long service increment — payable after three years' satisfactory service on the previous point.

The pay of wildlife rangers was last reviewed in 1996 and was formally agreed on 1 May 1996.

The union representing wildlife rangers, IMPACT, has sought discussions arising out of a Labour Court recommendation relating to park rangers. However, no position has yet been put to the union.
