Vol. 491 No. 3

Written Answers. - Garda Escorts.

Question:

412 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will give details of the cost incurred to the State in providing escorts to security vans transporting money; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11959/98]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 134 on 2 April last where the cost of providing Garda escorts for the movement of cash in each of the past three years was outlined.

The cost to the State of Army involvement in cash escorts is a matter for the Minister for Defence.
