Vol. 491 No. 3

Written Answers. - Coroner Service.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

429 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the plans, if any, he has to review the legislation governing the holding of inquests with particular regard to the difficulties encountered by people on low income who wish to seek a judicial review of an inquest; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12239/98]

I will shortly be establishing a working group to review the coroner service as a whole, including a detailed examination of the Coroner's Act, 1962.

While the terms of reference of the group have not been finilised, it is my intention that the legislative review will include the point made by the Deputy.
