Vol. 491 No. 3

Written Answers. - Ticket Sales.

Ivor Callely

Question:

101 Mr. Callely asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she will introduce regulations or procedures to prohibit tickets being sold above face value in view of the excessive prices sought by ticket touts for tickets to concerts, football matches and so on; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12050/98]

There is no basis in consumer law for prohibiting the sale of tickets above their face value and, accordingly, no regulations or procedures exist for this purpose. I have no plans to introduce such regulations or procedures.
