Written Answers. - Special Education Needs.
The standard rate of capitation grant of £50 per pupil is paid in respect of all pupils attending mainstream national schools, including children with special needs who are fully integrated into mainstream national schools.
Enhanced rates of capitation ranging from £253 per pupil to £426 per pupil are paid in respect of children with special needs who attend special schools or special classes attached to mainstream schools.
In addition, my Department will consider applications from mainstream national schools for the provision of specialised equipment for pupils with special needs who have been fully integrated into the mainstream setting.

Question:114 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will provide the education facilities for special needs as sought by a group (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12554/98]
The submission to which the Deputy refers raises a wide range of issues relating to support services for children with special educational needs who are integrated into the mainstream education system.
The submission in question is currently being considered in my Department.
I will be meeting with the integrated education group on 2 June next to discuss the range of issues raised in their submission.
