Vol. 491 No. 5

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Willie Penrose

Question:

72 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if there has been a reduction in the staffing levels of agricultural offices at Dublin Airport; if so, the reason for this reduction; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12562/98]

The terms of the Single European Act relating to the free movement of goods within the Community has reduced the surveillance role of ship inspectors at our sea and airports. This reduced role is reflected in the numbers employed.
