Vol. 491 No. 5

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

87 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the plans, if any, he has to provide funds for the necessary sewage treatment at Redhills; if there are cross-Border funds to support this in view of the fact it is in the Erne catchment area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12540/98]

Funding provided for water and sewerage schemes under the INTERREG II cross-Border initiative for the period 1995-9 has been fully allocated. Co-funding for the scheme was sought as part of the cohesion fund application submitted to the European Commission in respect of the Erne catchment water management scheme. Approval has not been forthcoming. In view of this and the high level of commitments under the water and sewerage services investment programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to advance this proposal.
