Vol. 491 No. 5

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Question:

89 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will provide funding to allow the local authority implement urgently needed structural improvements to flat complexes (details supplied) in Dublin 8; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12550/98]

I understand the complexes referred to are part of Dublin Corporation's programme of major works to upgrade some of its existing housing stock. The corporation received approval to the reallocation of capital resources from its housing construction programmes in 1997 and 1998 to undertake these works. Planning and implementation of the programme of works are a matter for the corporation. The prior approval of the Department is not required for individual schemes within the programme.
