Vol. 491 No. 5

Written Answers. - Traveller Accommodation.

Joe Higgins

Question:

93 Mr. Higgins (Dublin West) asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the application, if any, received from Fingal County Council for funding of traveller accommodation in Howth, County Dublin; and the correspondence, if any, entered into on the matter. [12596/98]

A proposal was received from Fingal County Council for a ten bay halting site and a caretakers house at Howth Castle at an estimated cost of £3.1 million which includes an estimated cost of £2 million for the site. A reply issued on 19 May 1998 indicating that 100 per cent capital funding of this order for site costs alone would not be possible.
