Vol. 492 No. 1

Written Answers. - Work Permit Applications.

Michael Finucane

Question:

47 Mr. Finucane asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 135 of 26 May 1998 in relation to a work permit in which details of the name were incorrectly stated, she has satisfied herself that the response was appropriate, particularly in view of the other detail with the application and the ongoing discussions in this regard with the undersigned and her Department; and if she will investigate the matter and issue an appropriate response. [13665/98]

Subsequent to the last question having been answered it was established that the Deputy had intended to refer to another individual in respect of whom the hotel concerned had earlier made an application for a work permit.

The confusion in the case was added to by the fact that another application had been made by a different hotel in respect of what turned out to be the same individual.

The first hotel, cited by the Deputy, had then withdrawn its application and it is now proposed to issue a work permit in respect of the person concerned to the second hotel.
