Vol. 492 No. 3

Written Answers. - Environmental Policy.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

13 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if the Government will designate the year 2000 as a green year; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12033/98]

I have no plans to designate any particular year as a green year. The process of building a more environmentally sustainable society is an ongoing one. It is my intention to pursue the progressive integration of environmental objectives into all areas of public policy so that the greening of our society will have a constant and growing focus.
