158 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the headage and suckler cow payments, if any, still owing to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [14170/98]

The person named applied for 1997 suckler cow premium and cattle headage grants on six cows. All outstanding grants under these schemes have already been paid. Under the suckler cow premium he was paid in advance of £504.82 on 5 November 1997 and the balancing payment of £336.56 on 19 February 1998. His 1997 cattle headage payment of £504 issued to him on 17 October 1997. Payment under the 1997 extensification premium scheme is expected to issue shortly.

159 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will expedite payment and premium for bullocks for 1997 still outstanding for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [14171/98]

The applicant declared 68.18 hectares on his 1997 area aid application form and this area has not been digitised to date. The person concerned submitted maps to the area aid unit with his 1998 area aid application. These are being examined with a view to completing the processing of his 1997 application.

160 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when his Department will commence paying special beef premium applications submitted in January and February 1998. [14172/98]

Under the relevant EU Regulations governing the operation of the 1998 special beef premium scheme, an advance payment of 60 per cent of the premium entitlement can be made on or after 1 November 1998. The balance, plus any 1998 extensification premium due, will be paid in 1999 and in any event not later than 30 June 1999.

161 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive his 1997 suckler cow payment. [14173/98]

The person named applied under the 1997 October suckler cow premium scheme in respect of three animals on 31 October 1997. He will be paid his 1997 suckler cow premium within the next two weeks.

162 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food further to Parliamentary Question No. 223 of 26 May 1998, when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive balancing payments for the 1997 suckler cow and special beef premium in view of the fact that he was promised payment some time ago and a 100 per cent penalty is not being imposed. [14319/98]

As stated previously, a difference exists between the area of land claimed by the applicant and the area digitised. Some documentation has been forwarded by the person named. However, an additional map is still required for a plot that has not been digitised. The applicant's Teagasc adviser has been contacted in this connection.
