213 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called for his hip operations. [14186/98]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Mayo in this instance is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.

214 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Cavan who is in urgent need of bypass surgery will be dealt with in view of the fact that he is on the waiting list in St. James's Hospital for over 12 months. [14225/98]

The provision of medical treatment in this instance is the responsibility of St. James's Hospital. I have asked the chief executive officer of St. James's Hospital to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
