Vol. 492 No. 4

Written Answers. - Housing Aid for the Elderly.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

237 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children the immediate measures, if any, he will put in place to deal with the crisis which exists in relation to the processing of special housing aid for the elderly grants in the Waterford constituency; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14431/98]

As the Deputy will be aware the special housing aid for the elderly scheme is administered by the health boards on behalf of the Department of the Environment and Local Government. The South Eastern Health Board have advised me that it is not aware of any crisis in relation to the operation of the scheme in the Waterford area. If the Deputy has specific information he wishes to bring to my attention, I will be happy to have the matter looked into.
