Question:

240 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children the proposals, if any, he has to introduce pilot projects for disadvantaged children in the Midland Health Board area; if so, the towns being considered for the location of these projects; when he will approve and announce these projects; the amount of financial support to be provided; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14439/98]

An assessment committee has been established to evaluate each pilot project proposal for children in disadvantaged areas prior to its submission to the Cabinet sub-committee on social inclusion for approval.

The Midland Health Board has not yet submitted its proposal to the assessment committee.
