Vol. 492 No. 4

Written Answers. - Sports Capital Programme.

John Perry

Question:

319 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the sources of funding, if any, available for a project (details supplied) based on the information provided which will serve the whole north Sligo region; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14415/98]

The sports capital programme which is administered by my Department provides funding towards the cost of capital projects.

The 1998 grants under the programme were recently allocated and all funds have now been committed to a number of projects around the country. The Sligo Northside Sports and Community Leasure Centre was recently advised that it was not among the projects approved for grant aid in 1998.

The sports capital programme is currently under review. Accordingly, no further applications are being invited until the review is completed and I am in a position to publicise details of the new schemes.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

320 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation when the grant of £5,000 which was allocated to a club (details supplied) in May 1997 will be paid. [14430/98]

A grant of £5,000 was allocated to this group in July, 1997 under the sports capital programme. In line with standard procedures, payment of the grant is subject to the club providing specific documentation and information that the project complies with the terms and conditions of the programme. When this is submitted and found to be in order, payment will be made.
