Question:

321 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason for the delay in the appointment of a consultant orthodontist at the Cork Dental Hospital where the position has been vacant since February 1998; the interim arrangements in place pending the new appointment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14104/98]

The National University of Ireland, Cork has made an appointment to the post of lecturer/consultant orthodontist who will take up duty later in the year. In the interim four orthodontists have been employed to provide full services to both students and patients.
