Vol. 492 No. 4

Written Answers. - Adoption Legislation.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

13 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Health and Children the plans, if any, he has to re-allocate responsibility for adoption legislation and reform from his Department to the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform. [10525/98]

I have no such plans. Indeed I had extra staff appointed to the child care policy unit to proceed with the preparation of legislation on a new post-adoption contact framework and on the Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption, 1993, as matters of priority.
