Vol. 492 No. 7

Written Answers. - Aer Lingus Annual Report.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

142 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the reason for the delay in the publication of Aer Lingus annual report for the year to 31 December 1997; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [15168/98]

Based on best business practice, Aer Lingus' annual report and accounts for 1997 would normally have been published at this time.

However, I have been informed by the company that, as the proposal to transfer ownership of TEAM is an issue of major significance, it is the company's preference to have as much clarity as possible as regards the future of TEAM before finalisation of the accounts of the Aer Lingus group.

Aer Lingus has confirmed to me that the company will comply fully with its obligations under the Companies Acts with regard to the filing of annual returns.
