Michael Ring

Question:

165 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive balance payments under the 1997 suckler cow premium scheme. [15098/98]

The person named is not the registered owner of the herd number quoted. The herd number of the person named is P1791824.

Application was made on 12 May 1997 in respect of 19 animals under the 1997 suckler cow premium scheme. It is expected that payment will issue to the person named within two weeks.

166 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the length of time it will take for headage and premia payments to issue to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact that he has resubmitted his 1997 area aid application. [15099/98]

The 1997 area aid application of the person named has been received with a declared forage area of 46.90 hectares. Part of this area has not yet been digitised. However the person concerned submitted maps to the area aid unit with his 1998 area aid application and these maps will be examined with a view to completing the processing of his 1997 application.

167 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a REP scheme appeal will be finalised for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [15100/98]

This case is the subject of an appeal which requires an on-farm visit before it can be examined by the REPS appeals committee. This inspection is expected to be carried out within the next week.

168 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a third REP scheme payment was reduced by £1,800 for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of his illness and circumstances. [15101/98]

As a result of a compliance check, the applicant was found not to be complying with the terms of his agri-environmental plan. A penalty of 25 per cent was accordingly imposed. The applicant has appealed this penalty to the Department's appeals committee.

169 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a REP scheme plan for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be accepted by his Department in view of the fact that it was submitted over two years ago. [15102/98]

This application is one of a number which include grazing rights on a large estate in County Mayo. The applicant was requested by my Department on 27 November 1997 to clarify his legal entitlements on this estate. No response has been received to date.
