Vol. 492 No. 7

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Michael Ring

Question:

263 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo who has recently completed his third level course has been told by his local employment exchange that he cannot claim unemployment assistance or benefit when he claimed this benefit in the summer of 1997. [14914/98]

There is no record of an inquiry regarding an entitlement to an unemployment payment from the person concerned in his local office.

It is open to the person concerned to make an application for unemployment assistance and a form for this purpose has now been issued to him. On receipt of the completed form his case will be examined. When a decision is made the person concerned will be notified of the outcome.
