Vol. 492 No. 7

Written Answers. - Pathology Service.

Jack Wall

Question:

303 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the fact that due to the lack of a pathologist at Naas General Hospital, County Kildare, the Kildare County Coroner has major difficulties carrying out his duties; if he will in conjunction with the Department of Health and Children ensure that the problem is rectified as a matter of urgency; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14876/98]

As the Deputy may be aware the responsibility for providing a pathology service to County Kildare lies with the Minister for Health and Children. I understand that it is proposed to hold discussions between my Department and the Department of Health and Children in order to ensure that all possible assistance is afforded to the coroner for County Kildare.
