Question:

373 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the decision, if any, which has been taken in regard to the extra facilities required at Naas CBS, or in lieu thereof, arising from the evaluation of primary and post-primary education needs in Naas, County Kildare. [15214/98]

The proposed extension to Naas CBS to provide overall accommodation for an enrolment of 800 pupils is being planned by my Department's planning and building unit. However, the school authorities have recently submitted a request to increase the area of the planned extension to provide overall accommodation to cater for an enrolment of 900 pupils. This request is being considered in the context of the evaluation of accommodation needs carried out by my Department and a decision is expected soon.
