Vol. 492 No. 7

Written Answers. - Departmental Property.

Seán Haughey

Question:

374 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will be seeking tenders for the use of a building (details supplied) in Dublin 3; if so, when tenders will be sought; the procedures involved in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15215/98]

The property in question is subject to a yearly tenancy which terminates in December 1998. A notice to quit has been served on my behalf on the company tenant, the liquidator appointed to the company and the receiver. Until I regain possession of the property I am not in a position to take steps to lease it to another party.

Discussions are ongoing between officials of my Department and the liquidator with a view to achieving possession of the property as soon as possible and in advance of the December termination date. When I obtain possession of the property, the normal process of tendering which applies in the public sector will be commenced with a view to entering into an agreement which will preserve the property as a sports-leisure facility into the future.
