Vol. 493 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

72 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a higher rate of compensation under the brucellosis scheme was not paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; if he will treat the case with sympathy and understanding in view of the circumstances involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15338/98]

The herdowner in question has been paid appropriate compensation at the category 3 rate under the brucellosis eradication scheme grant arrangements. Following an appeal by the herdowner, the herd categorisation aspect is being re-examined. He will be informed of the decision following completion of the re-examination by my Department.
