Vol. 493 No. 1

Written Answers. - Family Support Services.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

94 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs if he will designate a family, community and social centre (details supplied) in County Waterford as a family resource centre in view of the financial crisis facing it. [15400/98]

As the Deputy may be aware additional funding of £700,000 was provided in the 1998 budget to expand the family and community services resource centre programme by some 20-25 centres in 1998.

In this regard my Department is currently considering applications from a number of groups wishing to be included in the programme. The group referred to by the Deputy submitted an application recently which is currently under consideration. My Department will contact the group as soon as a decision has been made on its application.
