16 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform his views on a speedy resolution to a court case (details supplied) taken regarding the appointment of a Refugee Commissioner; if he will give details of any recent EU discussions regarding the Refugee Act, 1996; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The State's defence in this matter was lodged on 2 April, 1998. As the matter is now subjudice I have nothing further to add. There have been no discussions held at European level in relation to the Refugee Act, 1996.
