55 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will provide a list of the judges of the High Court and Supreme Court who are within five years of retirement; the date on which it is expected they will retire; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15447/98]
The Deputy will appreciate that the details being sought are of a personal nature and for this reason, I trust he will understand our policy of not giving the details as sought. However, in order to be helpful to the Deputy in providing a response, a total of four retirements will arise on age grounds in the High Court and four retirements on similar grounds in the Supreme Court over the next five years. In the High Court one vacancy will arise in 2000; one in 2001 and two in 2002. As regards the Supreme Court one vacancy will arise in 1999 while three vacancies will occur in 2000.
