Question:

124 Mr. Ring asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment whether an organisation (details supplied) in County Mayo, which was encouraged to apply for European Regional Development Fund funding for the purpose of building a training centre, will have its application approved; and, if so when the application will be approved. [15493/98]

All 32 projects in receipt of European Social Fund, ESF, aid under the NOW strand of the employment initiative were advised of the availability of a modest amount of European Regional Development Fund, European Regional Development Fund, aid to complement their ESF activity.

A total of 26 projects submitted applications which included one application from County Mayo. A broadly based selection committee was established to assess all applications and, unfortunately, the County Mayo application was not recommended for funding.

125 Mr. Ring asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the amount of funding approved in each county under the NOW programme of European Regional Development Fund; and the amount paid to date in 1998. [15494/98]

The following is a breakdown by county of the European Regional Development Fund assistance approved under the NOW strand of the employment initiative:
