Vol. 493 No. 3

Written Answers. - Railway Accidents.

Denis Naughten

Question:

162 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she has received the report of the inquiry by Iarnród Éireann into the tragic accident which occurred on 30 September 1997 at an unmanned level crossing in Donamon, County Roscommon; if so, the conclusions and safety recommendations of this report; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [15604/98]

I have still not received the report of the board of inquiry established by Iarnród Éireann to investigate this accident.

I understand that it is due to be submitted shortly to the railway inspecting officer of my Department who will review it to determine whether any further safety measures should be taken by the company to minimise the risk of a similar accident occurring in the future.
