Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

218 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a decision has been made on the appeal by a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16108/98]

The herdowner has lodged an appeal with the headage and premia appeals unit concerning his 1997 cattle headage application. Appeals are dealt with in the order in which they are received and require individual examination. It is expected that this case will be examined shortly and the herdowner will be notified of the outcome.

The basic REPS payment was made to the person concerned in March of this year. Officials of my Department have written to him in recent days with regard to his participation in the organic supplementary measure and a response is awaited.
