Vol. 493 No. 3

Written Answers. - Sports Capital Programme.

Michael Ring

Question:

426 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation when a committee (details supplied) in County Mayo will be approved national lottery funding in view of the fact that it has submitted several applications. [16274/98]

An application for funding under the sports capital programme was received from the Kilmaine Field Committee in February 1997. The committee had previously applied for funding under the programme in February 1995.

The 1998 grants under the programme were recently allocated and all funds have now been committed to a number of projects around the country. The committee was recently advised that they are not among the projects approved for grant aid in 1998.

The sports capital programme is currently under review. Accordingly, no further applications are being invited until the review is completed and I am in a position to publicise details of the new schemes.

Billy Kelleher

Question:

427 Mr. Kelleher asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation when a sports grant will be paid to an organisation (details supplied) in Cork; and the reasons for the delay in this regard. [16275/98]

A grant of £10,000 was allocated to Cork City GAA Division in July 1997 under the sports capital programme. In line with standard procedures, payment of the grant is subject to the division providing specific documentation and information confirming that the development complies with the terms and conditions of the Programme. When the necessary details are submitted and found to be in order, payment will be made.
