Vol. 493 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Recognition.

Mary Hanafin

Question:

430 Ms Hanafin asked the Minister for Education and Science when it is intended to grant full recognition to Monkstown Educated Together National School, Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15605/98]

The Monkstown Educated Together National school was established in September 1997 with temporary recognition from my Department. The purpose of temporary recognition is to enable the school to demonstrate over a period of time that it has a viable future and that it is being conducted in accordance with the rules for national schools. The school authorities submitted an application for permanent recognition to the planning section of my Department. The examination of the application is now being finalised.
