Vol. 493 No. 3

Written Answers. - Non-Resident Companies.

Willie Penrose

Question:

15 Mr. Penrose asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the progress, if any, made into drafting legislation to abolish international registered non-resident companies; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [15923/98]

Liz McManus

Question:

69 Ms McManus asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the proposals, if any, she will bring forward to provide for effective monitoring and supervision of Irish registered non-resident companies; the progress, if any, made in this regard by the IFSC working group; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [15777/98]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 15 and 69 together.

In relation to the information sought, I would refer the Deputies to my reply to Dáil Question No. 79 of 26 May 1998, a copy of which I propose to circulate to the Deputies.

As regards the company law legislative proposals referred to, the only material change in the meantime is, that our Department is currently examining the results of the consultation exercise with interested parties to see if any adjustments to the draft heads are warranted.
