Question:

103 Mr. Gormley asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the steps, if any, taken to date with regard to the implementation of the second Seveso directive regarding health and safety in the context of the port areas at Dublin, Whitegate and Cork city; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [15885/98]

Legislative measures to give effect to Directive 96/82/EC on the control of major accident hazards involving dangerous substances, known as the Seveso 2 Directive, are currently being prepared. The directive is due to be implemented by 3 February 1999 and the implementation measures will apply to all establishments coming within the scope of the directive.
